Two groups, MomsRising and Jews United for Justice, held a family play day Sunday at Ohr Kodesh Congregation in Chevy Chase.

Besides featuring a story time, treats, face painting, animal balloons and arts and crafts, the afternoon was an opportunity for the parents to show their support for paid sick days legislation in Montgomery County, organizers said.

Four in 10 workers in the county do not have access to paid sick days that would allow them to stay home to take care of a a sick child or other family member, or tend to their own health, the organizers said in a news release. The County Council is considering legislation requiring employers to grant up to seven days sick leave a year.

This play day was part of Mission Possible: Building a Strong Economy for Families, Women and the Nation, a national campaign coordinated by a coalition of more than 30 national organizations.
