It's official - the Universal Paid Leave Amendment Act is becoming law!
Huge thanks to the DC Council for supporting paid leave for all. They passed the bill in December, 2016.
After the Council passed the paid leave bill, we worked for two more months to challenge a potential Mayoral veto. We're so excited to announce that Mayor Bowser has declined to veto this program, which means #PaidLeave4DC is moving forward and becoming law!
We're so grateful to everyone in the JUFJ community, the DC Paid Family Leave Coalition, and every person, family, business, and organization who lent time, energy, passion, and creativity to this campaign. Our paid family and medical leave program will help the District care for the people we love, get well, and earn the money we need, when life happens.
