Join us for an interfaith luncheon to discuss how faith communities can join together to stand with the immigrant community.

The National Capitol Immigration Coalition (NCIC) is organizing a march on January 21st to call for an end to the raids and deportations, and to call for just and humane immigration reform, health care for all, and worker justice.  

We hope all who are interested and active on these issues will come together to discuss how we can involve congregations in the January 21st mobilization.

Inside the Activists Studio is an event designed to celebrate and showcase local Jewish change makers and the incredible work that they do, highlight the multitude of ways there are to make change, and build community among people with shared interests.

The Coalition for a Worker Center in DC, which includes JUFJ, discussed will be doing more door-knocking in the Brentwood neighborhood, this time with a survey to record support for a worker center and opinions about what kinds of services it should offer.

We set the goal of at least 60 surveys before Thanksgiving. To achieve this, we will go out twice: on Sunday, November 23 from 5-8pm, and on Monday, November 24 from 2-5pm. Please join us!

We're hoping to collect 100 surveys by the end of 2009. Join us in talking to neighbors and planning together for a worker center that meets everyone's needs. 

Can't make it on Sunday the 7th? Join coalition members on Mondays, 12/1 and 12/8 at 5:30pm, or on Tuesday, 12/3 at 9:30am.

Jews United for Justice shares information about events & opportunities sponsored by JUFJ allies, or information about local Jewish or inter-faith events and opportunities which concern local social justice issues, local anti-poverty work, or religious teachings about social justice issues.

It is up to our discretion whether or not to list a particular event or opportunity. No events will be listed which take place outside of the greater DC area, or which focus primarily on international issues. We may choose not to publicize events which take place on Shabbat (the Jewish Sabbath - from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday), or on Jewish holidays.
