Stand with workers at the Sheraton Crystal City hotel as they demand the reinstatement of fired union activist Ferdi Lazo and a free and fair process for deciding about unionization. More info:http://www.heiworkersrising.info

Stand in solidarity with the hotel workers of Northern Virginia this Thursday, July 30th from 4:30-6:30pm at a rally and picket at the Sheraton Crystal City.  Workers at this hotel are fighting back against the hotel management company HEI in response to reduced hours, layoffs, increased workloads, and the recent firings of union supporters, one who was fired five days after leading a delegation to the hotel manager.

Please come and support the hotel workers this Thursday!  The Sheraton is located at 1800 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA.  The closest metro stop is Crystal City.    With further questions, please call DC Jobs with Justice at 202-974-8281.

Now is the Time for Action! During his campaign, Adrian Fenty promised
to usher in a new era, bring us together and put the needs of the people
over petty political agendas. But now, he is pursuing an agenda to
privatize city services increasing the burden on DC residents through
excessive fees. DC workers want to work with the Mayor, but his style of
governance and his penchant for placing powerful moneyed interests over
the public good are not what are best for DC or its residents. In these
tough times, DC residents need a leader who will fight to save public
services, not sell them out. Join us Weds to take back DC!

Join Moishe House Silver Spring, Jews United for Justice, Avodah-AJWS, and Shomrei Adamah for a delicious and informative BBQ.

We'll be feasting on homemade local, organic, Kosher burgers and vegetarian delights, and exploring what being a consumer of food actually means.

Topics of discussion will include:

++ Local and organic - what it means and why it's important

++ Migrant worker rights and last year's immigration raid on the Agriprocessors Kosher meat plant in Postville, Iowa.

++ The effect of our food production and consumption on the environment.

++ Why this is a Jewish issue.

This event is funded by a generous grant from the Jewish Community Relations Council (http://www.jcouncil.org/) and is completely free, but please RSVP so we know how much food to buy.
