FAITH JAM: An Interfaith Celebration of Diversity and Unity, Featuring Craig Taubman and His Amazing Band, with Cantor Rosalie Boxt
Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter-community organizer Craig Taubman will be leading an evening of music, dance and prayer for the entire community in an event called Faith Jam: An Interfaith Celebration of Diversity and Unity. Come and enjoy an inspiring evening of song and spirit on May 22, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Bethesda Theater. Musical guests include our own Kol Zimrah choir, the Mormon Choir of Washington, DC, Pastor Lois Void and Dancing with a Purpose Ministries, Drummers, Joint Choirs of Kensington/Chevy Chase Ministerium Chuches, and blessings from an Imam, a Minister and a Rabbi.

The Restaurant Opportunities Center of Washington, DC (ROC-DC), is a multiracial worker-led center for restaurant workers - fighting to improve standards in the restaurant industry.
Our own ROC-DC members, as experts in the hospitality & restaurant industry, are offering these workshops to show you how to add some new tricks to your culinary arsenal!

Since February 2009, workers at the Sheraton Crystal City have been campaigning for justice and demanding a fair and democratic process to decide on unionization without management intimidation. After a year of struggle including intimidation, supply shortages, protests, and the firing of a union supporter, the owner, HEI, has still not accepted the demand for a fair, democratic process. Workers have now taken the dramatic step of calling for a boycott of their own hotel.
Jews United for Justice shares information about events & opportunities sponsored by JUFJ allies, or information about local Jewish or inter-faith events and opportunities which concern local social justice issues, local anti-poverty work, or religious teachings about social justice issues.
It is up to our discretion whether or not to list a particular event or opportunity. No events will be listed which take place outside of the greater DC area, or which focus primarily on international issues. We may choose not to publicize events which take place on Shabbat (the Jewish Sabbath - from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday), or on Jewish holidays.
