If your Shavuot observance permits it, join Save our Safety Net tomorrow morning to build a safety net around the DC Council building.

On Wednesday, City Councilmembers will begin deliberating on the budget-in the face of what many claim is the most difficult fiscal outlook in a generation or more. So on Wednesday, at 8:30AM, SOS will go once again to City Hall (1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW) to call upon Councilmembers to be heroes and save our safety net.
Public pressure for a fair budget has already successfully encouraged Councilmembers to roll back some of the cuts to the safety net proposed by Mayor Fenty. But there are still tens of millions of dollars of funding on the chopping block for services like grandparent caregiver subsidies, job training, affordable housing, and disability assistance.

At this action on Wednesday, we'll show City Hall what a real safety net looks like. The action will last about an hour; you can join it without missing much work at all.

Go here to learn more and to RSVP.  We'll see you there!
