MLK Mitzvah Day with Yachad
This year, make MLK Day more than a day off. Grab your hammer and help make a difference with Yachad as we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel’s belief in justice and community.
We'll paint, plaster, and repair the home of Mrs. Smith, 77, a homeowner and beloved neighbor in Northeast DC for 23 years. Over the years, her family’s low-income has left the house in disrepair. We will work side-by-side with her family to make her house a home again.
Morning shift: 10:00 am -1:00 pm
Afternoon shift: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The house is a 15-minute walk from the closest metro station, so we will be meeting at Sixth & I (9:00 am and Noon) and taking a public bus together. You may also provide your own transportation. Space is limited. This project is for participants ages 14 years or older.
ADMISSION: $25 per person. All money collected will be used to purchase building supplies and equipment for this project. To sign up or get more info, visit the Sixth & I website. If you have questions, please email Hannah.
