Fair Purple Line campaign lunch and meeting
For January's JUFJ Fair Purple Line Working Group meeting we're taking a spin on things and taking a tour in Langley Park and then eating lunch at a local Indian vegetarian restaurant. The tour will include a visit to La Union Mall, walk through the apartments of Langley Park that will be greatly affected due to the development around the Purple Line and TLC Sector Plan, seeing the Multicultural Center that is being built in the heart of Langley Park, and (depending on time) visiting some local residents. After the tour we will go get some lunch and celebrate the work we've accomplished in our first year of the Fair Purple Line campaign.
We will be meeting at the Takoma Metro at 10:30am on Sunday, January 17th to carpool into Langley Park together.
Please RSVP to Lindsay at linz.morris@gmail.com.

Day Laborer Justice October Meeting with Mackenzie Baris
On Tuesday October 20th at 7:00 pm the JUFJ working group will be joined by Mackenzie Baris, lead organizer for Jobs with Justice.
Mackenzie will present an in-depth history of day laborers and the Home Depot Site, walk us through an analysis of the key local players and issues, and answer any questions you have. This is a terrific opportunity for all of us to learn more, fill in the gaps in what we already know, and ask questions of a fantastically knowledgeable organizer.
For more information or to RSVP, please contact Elizabeth Richman at elizabeth@jufj.org
A Visit to Home Depot
On Tuesday October 13th at 6:30 pm we'll join the Workers' Center Coalition for a visit to the Rhode Island Ave. Home Depot site, the main gathering place for day laborers in DC. The visit is meant to give all of us a much better sense of the situation for day laborers and spark some creative ideas about where and how we can help erect a shelter on the property for the workers.
We'll meet at 6:30 pm under the awning of the AJ Wright store in the Home Depot shopping plaza, located at 901 Rhode Island Ave., NE.
The closest metro station (a block away) is Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood on the Red Line.
Please RSVP if you plan to come to Rabbi Elizabeth Richman at elizabeth@jufj.org
