Baltimore Green & Just Celebrations Guide
Welcome to the online home of the Baltimore Green & Just Celebrations guide! Thank you for helping us make 5772 the year we bring this remarkable resource to Baltimore.
About the Guide: A little book with a BIG mission
Mazel Tov! Congratulations on your upcoming simcha/celebration. Make your special day a treasured memory, shared with loved ones, and exemplifying Jewish values. Learn more about making conscientious spending decisions while balancing cost against impact on the world.
Green & Just Celebrations is a booklet that offers specific suggestions for how families can make purchasing choices that are mindful of workers’ rights and environmental impact. The book is illustrated throughout with Jewish teachings, and with the real-life stories of more than forty DC-area families who made creative green and just choices for their own celebrations.
Washingon-based Jews United for Justice created the Green & Just Celebrations guide, which is in use by thousands of D.C.-area families. A California edition has been produced and other local and regional editions are in the works. Bringing this project to Baltimore will make greener and more just choices available to the tens of thousands of Jewish families in our area. The Baltimore Jewish Environmental Network, the American Jewish Congress, and local congregations have joined together to bring this terrific resource to our communities!
