Advocates Discuss How to End Mass Incarceration

Join the Social Action Committee of Adat Shalom Reconstructionist Congregation, Jews United for Justice and the Tikkun Olam Commission of the Reconstructionist Movement for a conversation on ending mass incarceration.
The speakers will be:
Nicole Hanson-Mundell, Executive Director, Out for Justice, Inc., an expert on criminal justice policy and reentry in Maryland and a returning citizen. Out for Justice is a member-led nonprofit organization working to reform local and statewide reentry policies.
Eddie Ellis, Incarcerated Children’s Advocacy Network Coordinator, Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth (CFSY). CFSY leads and supports campaigns to ban life without parole and other extreme sentences for children.
Momolu Stewart, Executive Director, Nothing Exceeds Educational Development (N.E.E.D). Momolu was formerly incarcerated at 16 and was a participant in Georgetown University’s Prison Scholars Program. Through N.E.E.D., he helps youth forge a better path for their lives.
Lauren Payne and Avery Smedley, Student Activists. Lauren is the VP, Young People for Progress and Networking Director, MoCo Students for Change. Avery is the Director of Youth Organizing for the Youth Activism Project and Lead Organizer for Students Towards Equitable Schools, which she co-founded.
