The Montgomery County Council is hosting a public hearing about a bill that would allow for the continuation of the School Resource Officer (SRO) program in Montgomery County Public Schools. Join the MC Defund/Invest Coalition for a watch party of the County Executive's press conference about the executive's proposal for an alternative to police in schools, called 'The Reimagining School Safety and Students' Well-Being Initiative.' 

Our watch party will begin at 12:00 for a brief relational activity and updates on the Police Free Schools campaign. The press conference will begin at 12:30, at which point we will share the press conference via screenshare, and attendees will participate via chat. 

Join the MC Defund Policing & Invest In Communities Coalition for a watch party of a presentation by the Board of Education's SRO Working Group. The working group will present its final report on the impact of School Resource Officers (SROs) on Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). JUFJ and our coalition partners are concerned that their report is very heavily biased in favor of maintaining the status quo, and fails to use reliable research in justifying its outcomes. 

The watch party will begin at 3:30, and we'll start with a short relational activity and review background information on the bill. The working group's presentation will begin at 3:50, at which time we'll use screen share to display information.
