Montgomery County Hearing Watch Party: Police Free Schools

On 1/12/21, the Montgomery County Board of Education met to discuss the findings of their School Resource Officer (Police in Schools) Work Group. As we feared, the SRO Work Group’s report is biased in favor of the status quo, contains little data, and fails to meet the original goal of exploring alternatives to the police in schools model currently used by Montgomery County Public Schools.

Student members of the SRO Work Group submitted a statement laying out flaws in the work group’s process and findings, including the active silencing of voices opposed to SROs. You can read and retweet their letter here.
