Stand Up for Immigrants’ Lives at JHU/Public Panel on Migrant Justice
January 30, 2019 | 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Come hear long-time organizers talk about their work in the immigrant rights movement and make the case for abolishing ICE.
Since last summer, 2000 people have signed a petition calling on Johns Hopkins University to immediately terminate their teaching contracts with ICE. Six organizations representing both students and community members have come together and peacefully demonstrated. The administration has refused to end the contracts.
This event, co-sponsored with Hopkins Coalition Against ICE, will feature Lydia Walther-Rodriguez, lead organizer for CASA Maryland, discussing the struggle for migrant justice in Maryland. Khury Petersen-Smith, fellow at the Institute for Policy Studies, will be talking about his research on the crisis at the border, migration, and empire.
Q&A to follow.
